What are the effects of an incorrect engine oil level?
Consequences of too low oil level:
- destruction of the bearing shell, and then the crank-piston system;
- damage to the connecting rod and thus to the entire engine.
The effects of too high oil level are damage to the seals, the so-called "engine run-up", i.e. an uncontrolled increase in engine speed, which causes too much oil to go to the drive unit. This is especially dangerous for diesel engines because they make more revolutions per minute.
